Female reproductive system. Artwork of the female reproductive system. The reproductive organs are connected to the exterior by the vagina (red/pink, lower centre). The vagina leads through a narrow opening (the cervix, centre) into the uterine cavity (magenta triangle, upper centre). This is surrounded by the uterus (blue). Fertilised eggs implant themselves in the uterine lining during pregnancy. Eggs are produced by the ovaries (orange, upper left and upper right) and travel along the Fallopian tubes (one highlighted in pink, upper right) to the uterus.
