Caption

Female reproductive organs. Computer artwork of these organs which include the vagina (rod- shaped, blue, lower centre), which is the muscular birth canal. The vagina leads up through a narrow opening (the cervix) into the uterine cavity (triangular, green), a hollow in the womb or uterus (red). Female sex cells (eggs) are produced in the pair of ovaries (dark blue, to the left and right of the uterus) and travel along the Fallopian tubes (red/yellow) to the uterus. A fertilised egg implants in the uterine lining (light blue) and develops into a baby during pregnancy.
