Fallopian tube. Coloured freeze-fracture scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of a fallopian tube (oviduct). It has a highly-folded epithelial lining known as a mucous membrane (pale pink or yellow), below which lies the lamina propria (brown). The fallopian tubes are the muscular tubes through which ova (eggs) pass from the ovaries to the uterus following ovulation. Magnification: x2300 at 6x7cm size.
