Menopausal uterus. Endoscope view of the atrophied lining of a menopausal uterus. This patterning of blood vessels results from the changes in hormone production that mark the end of female fertility (menopause). Endometrial atrophy (degeneration) is a normal part of the ageing process and is not a serious condition. It may result in bleeding, and this should be checked to rule out cancer.
