Female reproductive system. Artwork of a naked woman with her reproductive system shown in red. The uterus (womb) is at centre, to either side are the ovaries, between the ovaries and the uterus are the fallopian tubes. The vagina is at bottom centre. The ovaries release an egg every month (ovulation), which is received by the fallopian tubes. It travels along the tubes to the uterus, a pear-shaped, hollow, muscular organ, in which the egg, if fertilised, will implant and grow. The vagina is a muscular canal that terminates at the neck of the uterus (cervix).
