Sperm. Light micrograph of human sperm (spermat- ozoa), the male sex cells (male gametes) produced in the testes. They deliver genetic material, held in their oval heads, to the ovum or egg (female gamete), using their tails to swim through the female reproductive system. Only one sperm in the 300 million that are ejaculated will fertilize the ovum. Magnification: x310 at 6x4.5cm size.
