Mitosis. Immunofluorescence light micrograph of cells during telophase of mitosis (nuclear division). Telophase is the last stage of mitosis before cytokinesis (cellular division). The chromosomes (purple), made of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), have been separated and moved to opposite poles of the cell. They were moved by microtubules (green), protein filaments that are part of the cell's cytoskeleton. A nuclear envelope will reform around each nucleus before cytokinesis begins.
