Early telophase of mitosis. Light micrograph (LM) of a whitefish cell (Coregonus sp.) undergoing cell division (mitosis). The cell is in the the early telophase (fourth) stage of mitosis. Individual chromosomes can be seen within the cell as black thread- like structures. During telophase, the two sets of chromosomes are enclosed in nuclei in the nascent daughter cells. For a sequence showing mitosis, see images P673/069-081.
