X-ray of the abdomen of a pregnant woman, showing the foetus in breech presentation, ie such a position that it would be delivered buttocks first (instead of a more normal head-first). Since this may result in a difficult birth, attempts may be made to manipulate the foetus before the mother enters into the labour period. Alternatives would be to try & manipulate the foetus during labour or in more difficult cases, to perorm a Caesarean section, whereby the child is delivered through an incision in the abdomen.
