Twelve week old foetus. Face and upper torso of a human foetus, approximately 12 weeks (3 months) old. The facial features are human: lips, eyelids, and external ears are fully developed. Fingers of the left hand are visible, although there is not much subcutaneous fat on the limbs or face. The umbilical cord is at lower frame. At this stage the crown-rump length (sitting height) of the foetus is about 8cm and its weight is around 45g. The large head constitutes about one half of the crown-rump length. Movements begin at this time but are usually not felt by the mother. The sex of the foetus can be determined at this age.
