Fifteen week old foetus. Side view of a human foetus, about 15-20 weeks (4-5 months) old. At 15 weeks the foetus appears completely human, with fully developed lips, eyelids and external ears. Fingers and toes are visible, the arms more well developed than the legs, although there is not much subcutaneous fat on the limbs or face. Eye- brows and fine head hair develop at this time. The crown-rump length (sitting height) of the foetus is 13-19cm and its weight 200-450g. The head is still proportionately large, but the body elongates during this stage. The sex of the foetus is seen. Magnification: x0.2 at 35mm size.
