Human embryo. Illustration of a human embryo aged 2 weeks (14-15 days) seen in the uterus. Measuring about 0.2 millimetres in length, the embryo is the oval shaped structure at lower centre (pink). At this stage the primitive streak is developing as a small line on the embryo. The embryo does not yet have a nervous system or any organs. Beneath the embryo is the early amniotic cavity, resembling a narrow cavity halfway around the embryo. Above the embryo is a yolk sac (yellow) which supplies nutrients to the embryo. The embryo is implanted in the uterine wall (light brown); trophoblast tissue (blue) will form into the placenta.
