Foetus at 12 weeks. At this stage of development (end of the first trimester) the foetus measures about six centimetres in length from crown-to-rump (sitting position) and weighs about 20 grams. The face is more human, although the eyes remain sealed. The foetus is able to move its arms and legs, although the mother is not usually able to feel this movement.
