Prostate gland. Artwork of a healthy male reproductive system with the prostate gland highlighted in blue. The prostate gland is a large male gland that surrounds the neck of the bladder (upper centre) and its urethral tube. The urethra carries both urine and semen out through the penis (lower right). Semen is a mixture of sperm, from the testicles below the penis, as well as secretions from the prostate and seminal vesicles (one seen at upper left). The sperm reach the prostate through one of the two vas deferens tubes. The prostate also produces secretions to keep the lining of the urethra moist.
