Collagen fibres. Polarised light micrograph (PLM) of a section through normal human collagen fibres. Collagen is a fibrous protein that forms white fibres of connective tissue. The fibres have high tensile strength, but are not elastic. Connective tissue participates in the structure of organs & body tissues and binds them together. It is the most abundant structural protein in the body. Magnification unknown.
