Thermogram of a human head. Thermography is a technique for visualising emission of infrared (IR) radiation as heat. Here, the pattern of heat emission has been colour-coded in the image, from yellow (35 Celsius) through orange, red, mauve, purple and dark blue to light blue (24 Celsius). Note the hot areas at the side of the face and above the eyes, whilst the nose is relatively cool.
