Caption

Beauty perception. Composite computer image of the faces of 8 Japanese fashion models. This image is one of four illustrating attractiveness in models. Eight faces of Japanese models, taken from Japanese fashion magazines, were combined by computer to show an "average" Japanese model's face. This image was then combined with composite pictures of an Afro-Caribbean model's face (P870/087) and a Caucasian model's face (P870/089) to produce a composite, multi-cultural model's face (P870/090). The images are part of work in which scientists concluded that beautiful faces do not have average features.
