Holographic tailor. A computer-generated contour map of a man's torso, produced by a "holographic tailor" that can scan the body and read off clothing measurements in an instant. Colours show areas at the same level. This image was produced from a pattern of parallel stripes projected onto the man's naked torso. The stripes were scanned into a computer from three different positions by a digital camera and then compiled to produce a 3-D (three-dimensional) contour map. The whole procedure takes less than three seconds and removes the need for the lengthy process of taking measurements by hand.
