Male body sectioned. Computer coloured front view of the male human body, sliced through to show internal anatomy. This is part of the Visible Human Project - a US project to archive images of a typical male and female body. The head, lower arms and feet have been added by computer. Major muscles are seen in the shoulders, upper arms and thighs. Bones of the central spine are seen (light blue); yellow lungs are visible in the chest. In the abdomen is the liver (red), the two kidneys (blue), and bladder (blue) in the pelvic region. The two cadavers used in the project are CT & MRI scanned, and cut into slices while frozen. The project is for medical research and education.
