Caption

Computer digitised dissection of upper torso and head anatomy. The head is seen thrown back and to the side, with part of the brain exposed, and showing the carotid artery in the neck (centre right, yellow). The carotid artery is the major artery supplying blood to the head: both to the brain, face, and scalp. A pair of these arteries occur on either side of the neck, and originate from the aortic arch leaving the heart. Also seen here are dissected muscles of the neck and chest region.
