Junk food. An obese man eating a cream and chocolate pastry. Snacks and junk food such as cakes, chips, biscuits and sweets are considered unhealthy, particularly when eaten in large quantities. They may contain high levels of sugars which can cause dental caries, or saturated fats which, if consumed in excess, can cause obesity and raise the risk of heart disease. Such foods also contain little in the way of vitamins, minerals, protein or fibre, which are necessary to maintain good health.
