Junk food. Obese woman eating a fruit pastry. A chocolate eclair is seen on her plate. Snacks and junk food such as cakes, chips, biscuits and sweets are considered unhealthy, particularly when eaten in large quantities. They often contain high levels of sugars which can cause dental caries, or saturated fats which, if consumed in excess, can cause obesity and raise the risk of heart disease. Such foods also contain little in the way of vitamins, minerals, protein or fibre, which are necessary to maintain good health. A person is obese when they are over 20% above the desired body weight for their height.
