Sports trainers. Thermogram of sports trainers that are being worn on someone's feet. The colours show variations in temperature; from red (warmest) through yellow and green to blue (coldest). The trainer on the left is a ClimaCool trainer from Adidas, first sold in 2002. The ClimaCool system provides ventilation through all surfaces of the trainer, helping to keep the athlete's foot cool. The ventilation is seen on the side and top of the trainer where heat (red) is escaping. The trainer on the right does not have this ventilation system and the heat remains trapped inside the trainer. Photographed at the Adidas research centre in Scheinfeld, Germany.
