Kikuyu dancer in traditional face paint and dress. The Kikuyu (or Gikuyu) are the largest ethnic group in Kenya. The Kikuyu are an agricultural people, and live largely on vegetables, beans and grains. They also raise cattle, from which they make clothing, bags and bedding. The Kikuyu dominate Kenyan politics, and Jomo Kenyatta, the first president of independent Kenya, was a Kikuyu.
