Altazimuths are used to measure altitude and azimuth (length in degrees of the arc from the horizon) of celestial bodies. An altazimuth mount is a mount for a telescope, which can rotate about horizontal and vertical axes. This artwork is taken from "The Circle of the Sciences" published in 1862-7.
