Caption

Telescope at the Radcliffe Observatory, Pretoria, South Africa. Man using the 74 inch (1.9 metres) cassegrain (dual reflector) spectrograph, which was the largest telescope in South Africa from 1951 until 2004. The Radcliffe Observatory had originally functioned as an observatory in Oxford, England, for 160 years before the owners decided to sell it in 1934 and erect a new observatory in the less polluted atmosphere of Pretoria.
