Caption

Eclipse watching. Amateur astronomer observing a total solar eclipse through a telescope. There is a solar filter on his telescope. Viewing the Sun without such protection would cause serious damage to his eyes. Solar eclipses occur when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun, casting a shadow across the Earth. Photographed in Cornwall, England, on 11 August 1999.
