The Yerkes Observatory of the University of Chicago. The observatory was founded in 1897 by George Hale with a grant from businessman Charles Yerkes. On the left is the dome of the 40" refractor telescope, the largest of its kind in the World. On the right is the dome of the 41" reflector. Yerkes Observatory is at Williams Bay, Wisconsin at an altitude of 334m.
