Telescope resolutions. Simulated typical resolutions from the same portion of the sky as seen (from left to right) by the Very Large Telescope (VLT), Hubble space telescope, an 8 metre optical telescope, Overwhelmingly Large Telescope (OWL). If built, OWL would have a segmented mirror of 100 metres in diameter, making it the largest optical telescope in the world.
