Dome of the Canadian-French-Hawaiian Telescope (CFHT), housing a 3.6metre reflector, situated at a height of 4,205 metres on the peak of an extinct volcano called Mauna Kea, on the Island of Hawaii. At this altitude, 40% of the atmospheric air is below the observatory, making observational conditions some of the finest in the world. The observatory is an outstation of the University of Hawaii located at Honolulu.
