Philae probe. Artwork of the Philae lander landing on the surface of the comet 67P/Churyumov- Gerasimenko. The comet's surface is covered with jets of volatile materials, released as they evaporate below the surface as the comet nears the heat of the Sun. This landing is part of the European Space Agency's Rosetta project. Rosetta, the spacecraft carrying the Philae lander, was launched in March. It is scheduled to arrive in early 2014.
