Rosetta space probe. Computer artwork of the Rosetta spacecraft during its flyby of Earth. The aim of the Rosetta mission, launched in 2005, is to study the comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The probe will rendezvous with the comet in 2014, after performing flybys of Earth and Mars, and examimations of the asteroids 2867 Steins and 21 Lutetia. The Rosetta space probe carries the Philae lander, which will transmit data about 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko's composition from the comet's surface.
