The "Sounds of Earth" record before it was stored on board the Voyager 2 spacecraft in 1977. The two Voyager craft, after their journey to the 4 giant gas planets (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune), will eventually leave our solar system & head towards distant stars. In case either craft meets an alien intelligence, the "Sounds of Earth" is evidence of life on Earth. The record is made of copper & is gold-plated. It contains electronical- ly imprinted words, photos & diagrams about the Earth. The sounds include greetings in 60 languages, music from different cultures, & the sounds of the wind, surf, animals, & other phenomena.
