Launched from Cape Kennedy on 20 August 1977, Voyager 2 visited Jupiter (July 1979), Saturn (August 1981), Uranus (January 1986), & Neptune (August 1989), & sent back thousands of spectacular images of the planets & their moons. Jupiter, with its Great Red Spot, is at left; Saturn & its rings are at lower right; Uranus & Neptune are the two blue planets at upper right. The instrument at the top of Voyager's upper boom, directly in front of the Great Red Spot, is the TV imaging camera.
