Voyager. An abstract computer graphic image of a Voyager spacecraft. The prominent circular feature is the main antenna. The boom pointing toward bottom left supports most of the imaging instruments, whilst the boom running toward upper right carries a small magnetometer probe. The two Voyager spacecraft were launched in 1977 with a mission to survey the outer planets of our Solar System. The mission continued for 12 years, the final planetary encounter being Voyager 2's flyby of Neptune in August 1989. Both spacecraft are still being tracked out of the Solar System.
