Rock from meteorite impact crater. This rock comes from the Rochechouart impact crater, near the town of Rochechouart in the Haute-Vienne region of western France. The crater formed from an impact that took place around 214 million years ago. The rock consists of fragments fused into a matrix, and is classified as the Montoume type. This type of rock from this crater is reddish in colour. This sample measures 11.6 by 6 centimetres in size.
