Micrometeorite researcher examining samples (on screen) using a scanning electron microscope. Micrometeorites are microscopic particles of rocks from space, dating back to the origin of the solar system. On Earth, uncontaminated samples are collected from the ice deposits in the polar regions. These samples are from Antarctica. This work, part of a CEREGE and CNRS research program, is being done at the University of Aix-Marseille III, France.
