Illustration of asteroid Amor passing the south pole of Mars. Amor is one of the minor planets, only some 5km in diameter. Discovered in 1932, it has an orbit which ranges from 1.08 to 2.76 Astronomical Units (1AU= 149.6 million km) with an orbital period of 2.66 years. Amor is one of the 'Earth grazing' asteroids, passing very close to the orbit of the Earth.
