Lunar gravity. Map of gravity around the whole Moon, derived from data gathered by the Clementine spacecraft. The Moon's near side is at right, the far side at left. The map shows differences between the gravity distribution predictaed by a computer model and observed gravity. Yellow areas are where the model is correct. Red areas have more gravity than expected; green, blue and purple areas progressively less than predicted. The data come from velocity deviations of the spacecraft due to gravity. The red areas at top right are the great "seas" of the near side. The circular feature at lower centre is the Mare Orientale.
