Crescent Moon. Cloud crossing the face of a crescent Moon. The Moon emits no light of its own, shining only by reflected sunlight. As the Moon orbits the Earth, it presents a differing amount of its lit face to us. This leads to the cycle of phases, with around 28 days between two full Moons.
