Lunar eclipse. Moon during the partial phase of the total lunar eclipse of the 21st January 2000. The Moon does not produce its own light but reflects that of the Sun. Eclipses occur when the Moon enters the shadow cast by the Earth. Lunar eclipses are visible from anywhere on Earth where the Moon is above the horizon.
