Half Moon. The Moon does not produce light. Instead it reflects light from the Sun. It takes 28 days to orbit the Earth, during which time the proportion of its lit face visible from Earth varies from all to nothing and back again. In between it passes through the half-moon phase seen here. Photographed in north Finland.
