Moon ice. Artwork of water ice (light blue) in craters on the surface of the Moon. The Earth and Sun are in the background. Water ice can exist on the Moon, but only in areas which are permanently shadowed from the heat of the Sun. For this reason it exists only in deep craters near the Moon's polar regions. The presence of life in the ice is unlikely, but it could be used as a source of water for future Moon bases. South is at top in this image.
