Lunar rock, collected by the Soviet Luna 16 spacecraft. This is rock found loose on the surface: lunar regolith. Luna 16 was launched from a preliminary Earth orbit towards the Moon in September 1970. After three days travelling it landed and gathered samples, returning to the Earth after 26 hours on the surface, collecting 101 grams of lunar material.
