The caldera at the top of Olympus Mons, Mars. Olympus Mons is a massive shield volcano, 25km high and with a diameter of 600km. The caldera itself is 90km in diameter. The image has a surface resolution of 160 metres per pixel. It was taken by the Viking Orbiter spacecraft. It has been coloured by photographic techniques.
