Gullies on Mars. Mars Global Surveyor image of gullies (dark) on the wall of an impact crater on Mars. Such gullies may be evidence that liquid water flowed on the surface of Mars in relatively recent history. This crater is in the Newton Basin in the Sirenum Terra region of Mars. It was photographed by the Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) on the MGS spacecraft in orbit around Mars.
