Panorama from Columbia Hills, Mars. 360-degree panoramic image obtained by the Mars Exploration Rover Spirit in July 2005. The rover landed in the Gusev Crater, Mars, in January 2004, and has been exploring the region ever since. This view is from an area called the Columbia Hills, named after the astronauts who died on the space shuttle Columbia. Husband Hill is the peak at right, and is about 100 metres away. At left are Larry's Lookout and Cumberland Ridge that Spirit explored in April, May and June 2005. Parts of the rover are seen in the foreground, including the solar panels. This image is a mosaic of 108 separate images from the rover's panoramic camera. See image R360/211 for a view from Husband Hill.
