Caption

Sixth in a series of 6 artist's impressions illustrating the formation of a new star, such as the Sun. After its T Tauri explosion, the new star settles down, fusing hydrogen into helium at a steady rate. Relatively small stars such as the Sun behave in this way, gradually "burning" their hydrogen over billions of years. In this image, the new star is depicted as surrounded by a small retinue of planets.
