Field of stars in the constellations of Gemini and Cancer. The two brightest stars, at upper centre, are Castor (top) and Pollux (below). Pollux, also known as Beta Geminorum, is the brightest star in Gemini; an orange giant star 35 light years away, it is the closest giant star to Earth. Castor, also known as Alpha Geminorum, is a white, visual triple star and the second brightest star in Gemini.
