Caption

Sky seen from an alien world. Computer artwork of the view from the surface of an alien (extrasolar) planet orbiting a star (orange, lower right) that lies within a globular star cluster. A moon is also seen at centre. A globular star cluster is a densely packed ball of thousands to millions of stars formed at the same time. The stars found in a globular cluster are thought to be among the oldest stars known. Our galaxy, the Milky Way, has about 150 globular clusters but some are much richer in globulars; the giant elliptical galaxy M87 contains over a thousand.
